Visa Extension and Renewal

Visa extension, visa renewal, and visa duration extension consulting.

Extending a visa's validity before it lapses

A visa extension or renewal is a routine, forward-looking request made because travel plans or short-term circumstances require more days inside Turkey than an original visa or e-Visa granted — it is not the same as challenging a refusal or a cancellation, which follows a different process. FTurkey's visa extension and renewal consulting helps travellers and short-term visa holders work out whether an extension is available for their visa type and nationality, and organises the request within an agreed written scope. The consulate, the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, or the e-Visa system decides whether to grant it — not FTurkey.

Confirm whether your visa type can be extended at all

Not every visa category allows an in-country extension: some e-Visas and sticker visas are issued for a fixed, non-extendable period, and the only route to more time is a fresh application from outside Turkey, while others allow a limited extension under specific humanitarian, medical or force-majeure grounds recognised by the migration authority. Share your current visa type, issue and expiry dates, and the reason you need more time — a medical situation, a travel disruption, a pending personal matter — so FTurkey can check which route, if any, actually applies before you commit to a request.

Prepare the extension file and supporting evidence

Where an extension route exists, the file typically needs your passport, the current visa, evidence supporting the stated reason (a medical report, a flight cancellation notice, or similar), and proof of continued means of support and, where relevant, valid health insurance for the extended period. FTurkey can review your documents against the requirements of the specific route identified, help translate and organise the file, and prepare it for submission to the consulate or migration directorate.

What an extension does not change

An extended visa remains subject to the same purpose restrictions as the original — a tourist visa extension does not authorise work, and a business visa extension does not authorise long-term residence. If your circumstances have genuinely changed toward a longer stay, employment or study, that is generally a separate residence-permit or work-permit matter with its own application, not something achieved by requesting more days on the existing visa; FTurkey can point you to that different process when this applies.

Submitting the request and what happens next

Within an agreed scope, FTurkey can help submit the extension request and track its status once filed. The authority reviews the stated grounds and decides whether to grant the extension, for how long, and on what conditions; it may request additional documents or decline the request without being required to give a detailed reason. No extension, particular duration, or processing time can be guaranteed in advance.

Request a proposal

The support needed depends on your visa type, nationality and the reason additional time is required. Request a quote describing your current visa, its expiry date and why an extension is needed, and FTurkey can propose a written scope for the eligibility review and document coordination available.
