Airport transit is not always visa-free

These permits are typically short in validity and tied to a defined route and timeframe. Documents a transit application typically needs

Beyond a valid passport, a transit application generally requires proof of onward travel — a confirmed ticket or booking to the final destination — and, where the destination country itself requires a visa, evidence that this has already been obtained or is not needed. Authorities can refuse transit if onward admissibility is not clearly documented, since an inadmissible traveller stranded in transit creates a problem the transit country will not accept.
