Intellectual Property Law

Consulting on trademarks, patents, copyrights, and intellectual property protection.

IP matters that call for a written scope first

Protecting a trademark, patent, design or copyrighted work in Turkey involves procedures before the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) and, for certain matters, specialised intellectual property courts. FTurkey's intellectual property consulting helps foreign businesses and creators understand what protecting a specific mark, invention or work in Turkey involves, and coordinates with the right registered professionals. This service does not constitute legal advice; trademark and patent applications, legal opinions on registrability or infringement, and representation in opposition or court proceedings are handled by independent licensed Turkish trademark and patent attorneys (marka ve patent vekilleri) or attorneys at law.

Describe what you want to protect

Share what you are seeking to protect: a brand name and logo, a product design, an invention, or a copyrighted work such as software, written content or media. Include existing registrations in other countries, the goods and services or technical field involved, and your priority markets. For a trademark, note the classes (Nice Classification) you believe are relevant; for a patent or design, share available technical descriptions or drawings. If you have already received an office action, opposition notice or infringement claim, share the document and its deadline as received.

Coordination with independent licensed IP counsel

Depending on the matter, FTurkey can coordinate an introduction to an independent licensed Turkish trademark or patent attorney, or an attorney at law for contentious IP matters, suited to your industry and language needs. The registered attorney, not FTurkey, conducts the formal availability search, prepares and files the application, responds to office actions, and represents you in opposition proceedings or before the IP courts. FTurkey's role is limited to coordinating your file, organising supporting materials, and following up on communication and deadlines.

Practical support within the agreed scope

Within an agreed written scope, FTurkey can help organise a portfolio overview of existing registrations, prepare a factual brief describing your mark or invention for counsel, and track TÜRKPATENT bulletin publications relevant to your application or a competitor's filing. Straightforward administrative matters — for example, gathering documents for a renewal — can be scoped separately from a contested opposition or infringement matter that requires legal representation.

Timelines and procedural deadlines

Examination periods, opposition windows (typically counted from publication in the official bulletin), and renewal deadlines are set by Turkish IP law and TÜRKPATENT procedure, not by FTurkey. Missing an opposition or response deadline can result in a permanent loss of rights, so any matter with a stated deadline should be shared as early as possible, together with the underlying notice.

Scope boundaries

FTurkey is a consulting and coordination company, not a law firm or a registered IP attorney. Applications, legal opinions, and representation before TÜRKPATENT or the courts are the responsibility of the independent registered professional you engage. FTurkey's fees, deliverables and role are defined in a written scope agreed before work begins; a matter that develops into a contested opposition or infringement dispute may require revising that scope.

Request a proposal

Request a quote describing what you want to protect, relevant markets and classes, and your preferred language for counsel. FTurkey can then propose a written scope and, where appropriate, coordinate an introduction to an independent registered trademark, patent, or IP litigation attorney.
