Describe the family situation and what you need

Share a factual account of the family situation: marriage or divorce documents, the countries and nationalities involved, whether children are affected and their current residence, and what you are trying to achieve — recognition of a foreign document, initiating a divorce, addressing custody or support, or dividing property. Note whether both parties currently agree on the main terms, since Turkish law treats an uncontested (anlaşmalı) divorce very differently from a contested one in terms of process and timeline.

Coordination with independent licensed family law counsel

Where the matter requires a legal opinion, a court filing, or representation in mediation or before a family court, FTurkey can coordinate an introduction to an independent licensed Turkish family law attorney suited to the situation and language needs. The attorney, not FTurkey, evaluates your legal position, drafts petitions and agreements, and represents you in proceedings. FTurkey's coordination role includes organising your documents, translating factual summaries, and following up on communication between you and counsel; it does not include predicting a custody, support or property outcome.

Practical support within the agreed scope

Within an agreed written scope, FTurkey can help organise foreign civil status documents for recognition (tanıma/tenfiz) procedures, coordinate certified translation and apostille steps, and prepare a factual chronology of the family situation for your attorney. Support for straightforward document recognition matters — for example, registering a foreign marriage certificate with the civil registry — can be scoped separately from a contested divorce or custody dispute requiring legal representation.

Timelines and sensitive considerations

Court calendars, mediation requirements and statutory notice periods in family matters are set by Turkish law and the relevant court, not by FTurkey. Matters involving a child's residence or urgent safety concerns are especially time-sensitive and should be raised with independent legal counsel directly and without delay; FTurkey's coordination role does not replace immediate legal representation in an urgent custody or protection matter.
