Bank Account Opening Consulting
Bank account opening process in Turkey, required documents, and bank selection consulting.
Coordination for opening a Turkish bank account, not the account itself
Opening a bank account in Turkey as a foreign national is a bank-led process: the bank alone reviews your file, applies its own know-your-customer (KYC) checks and decides whether to open the account. FTurkey is a consulting and coordination company, not a bank, and cannot open an account, guarantee its approval or act on the bank's behalf. What FTurkey can do, within an agreed written scope, is help you understand the documentation a Turkish bank is likely to require, compare account options and coordinate the practical steps of the application so the process runs smoothly on your side.
Documents Turkish banks typically request from foreign applicants
Requirements vary by bank and by your residency status, but most banks ask for a valid passport, a Turkish tax identification number (vergi numarası) issued by the Revenue Administration, and proof of a Turkish address such as a lease agreement or utility bill. A residence permit is often requested, though some banks will open a limited account for a short-term visitor using only a passport and tax number. Some branches also ask for a locally active Turkish mobile number to enable SMS verification and mobile banking. FTurkey can prepare a checklist matched to the bank you are considering and help you assemble the file before an appointment, but the bank's compliance department makes the final determination on what it will accept.
Comparing banks and account types before you commit
Turkey has state-owned banks, private commercial banks and participation banks (katılım bankaları) that operate under interest-free, profit-and-loss-sharing principles rather than conventional interest, all supervised by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK). Account options include Turkish lira accounts, foreign-currency accounts and, for some nationalities, accounts intended for non-resident visitors. FTurkey can help you compare branch accessibility, English-language support, mobile banking quality and fee structures relevant to your situation, so you approach the right bank for your needs rather than the first branch you find.
Coordinating the application and appointment
Within the agreed scope, FTurkey can help translate and organise your documents, identify a suitable branch, and coordinate the appointment booking or accompanying interpretation if needed. The in-person identification step, biometric verification and final account activation are carried out directly between you and the bank; this cannot be delegated to a third party. Turkish banks apply their own risk-based KYC policies under BDDK and anti-money-laundering regulation, and a bank may request additional documents, delay a decision or decline an application without being required to give a detailed reason. No outcome, approval timeline or fee waiver can be promised in advance.
What this service does not include
FTurkey does not hold, transfer or manage your funds at any stage, does not provide investment or tax advice, and is not a substitute for the bank's own onboarding process. If your account opening is linked to a residence permit, company formation or property purchase, those matters are handled under their own separate scopes and are coordinated alongside, not replaced by, this service.
Understand the cost and request a proposal
The work involved depends on your nationality, the bank and account type you are targeting, how complete your documentation already is, and whether interpretation or in-person accompaniment is needed. Request a quote describing your nationality, residency status and preferred bank or city, and FTurkey can propose a written scope covering the documentation and coordination support available for your case.
